The memories of multiple events that I responded to continue to haunt me through the day and night. I am always on guard or hypervigelent. I do my best to talk myself through things. Sometimes it works and other times my Anxiety goes high.

I try to meditate and think about good things. However, the images of the events especially the helicopter crash plays in my brain like a broken record, and trying to make sense of things. There are days I wish it would stop.

Do you have tools that you use to help you out when you are always on guard? What are they? Do you have questions for me?

  1. I feel this. I know it all too well friend. Sometimes all the trauma gets to me and it’s unbearable. I find that when I feel so guarded or full of fear to just become aware of my surroundings and know that I am in the present, in the right now and that it can no longer have control of my thoughts. I try to recognize, I’m not in that current situation and everything will be OK… Those feeling are so hard to shake off..its so real.. And they appear just out of no where and it overwhelms you. Hoping your day gets a little brighter friend.

  2. Mantras help me immensely. I follow the Drikung Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism and if it wasn’t for Buddhism I don’t think I’d be around today. There’s some Drikung Kagyu centers in Oregon if you search for them. Or Kagyu As well. I find the Drikung Kagyu and Kagyu branches of Tibetan Buddhism to be of most benefit. It’s just a thought. Also I recommend books like The Transformation of Suffering by Khenchen Konchog Rinpoche ir Books by Lama Yeshe. Hang in there friend.
